So lucky to have front row seats for Wicked (UK Tour) at Sunderland Empire last weekend. We booked the tickets over 2 years ago (I’m not usually that organised by the way!). It really is a fantastic production, everything from the music, set, costumes to the amazing vocals of all the actors. No wonder its received over 100 major international awards.

Wicked tells the untold story of an unlikely friendship between two young women who first meet as sorcery students, who ultimately become known as Glinda The Good and the Wicked Witch of the West, a prequel to the Wizard of Oz. It is in its 12th year at London’s Apollo Victoria Theatre and this tour in Sunderland are it’s last ever North East dates! BOOOO!

The tour cast features Amy Ross as Elphaba and Helen Woolf as Glinda. You may also recognise Aaron Sidwell ( ‘Steven Beale’ in EastEnders) as Fiyero and Steven Pinder (‘Max Farnham’ in Brookside) as The Wizard.

Funny, delightful and spine-tingling at times, a real treat for all the family. I thoroughly enjoyed it. And to top it all off, if you download the ATG app you can order ice cream for the interval which they deliver to your seat!! How 21st Century is that?
