Things are taking a wonderfully Christmassy turn with a number of Festive Afternoon Teas being offered throughout the region – read on to find your ideal way to spend an afternoon full of cake and goodies this winter. Tip of the day – if you’re anything like me, the tea never looks enough when first served but then you fill up really fast, much faster than you’d like! A traditional afternoon of festive fun in the wonderful surroundings of a classic, quintessentially British Tearoom in County Durham. On 8th December only at 2pm, at £25per person, join in with the festive songs of Christmas as you dine and sing-a-long in the beautiful Winter Gardens Suite, with Victorian Style carol singers and festive afternoon tea.
The cutest tearoom south of the River with a cosy atmosphere to match, there is no better place for a homely Christmas afternoon tea and at only £11 per person (with non-alcoholic mulled wine) and £7 per child, is a really great price too. Available from Monday 2nd December.
Red Fox Garden World, Gateshead
Offered as part of its Grown Up Grotto there is Festive Afternoon Tea, each weekday at 12:45pm. Cost is £20 each and price includes a visit to Santa in the Grown Up grotto and the tea. So if you no longer have little ones that wish to visit Santa this is a brilliant way to have some festive fun with friends and ask Santa for a little something for yourself at the same time.
Head down to Dean Street in Newcastle any Friday, Saturday or Sunday in December and have yourself a very, merry Christmas afternoon tea for £17.95 per person or upgrade to Tipsy tea, which includes a Christmas cocktail at £25 per person.
Festive Choir Afternoon Tea on Sunday 8th December only, in the Old Barn 12pm-3pm. Adults £34.95 (which includes Christmas Fizz cocktail) and children £24.95 including a Christmas Mocktail. Held in the Old Barn which will be transformed into a winter wonderland, draped in twinkly fairy lights, featuring life-size magical reindeer, and beautifully decorated giant Christmas Trees, a truly enchanting atmosphere.
Festive pop-up, Christmas Hall at Fenwick, Newcastle
Situated in their Christmas Hall, Lower Ground Floor, take a break from Christmas shopping with Fenwick as they serve up a Fabulous Festive Afternoon Tea served daily from 2pm £16.95 per person, alongside a range of winter warmers and tipsy tipples.
Indulge in a sparkling afternoon tea in the stylish backdrop of their new social space, Artisan, complete with working fireplaces and artistic decoration. An ideal way to spend a Sunday afternoon this winter. Choose from Sunday 1st Dec and Sunday 8th December at 2pm or 3pm for £35 per person.
You will be welcomed at the wonderful Sky Lounge in Newcastle with a Christmas Cocktail, ready to take in amazing views of the Quayside from the rooftop. The price per person is £34.95 midweek and £38.95 on Saturdays and Sundays, served from 1st December to 24th, at 1pm.
Great Hall, Jesmond Dene House
Enjoy a champagne afternoon tea alongside seasonal live music in the Great Hall, on 8th and 15th December in this wonderful setting, for £42 per person.
Fancy Christmas afternoon tea with breath taking panoramic views of Newcastle’s Quayside and cityscape from the top floor of BALTIC? Arguably one of the most picturesque restaurants on Newcastle Quayside and it’s serving up festive afternoon teas on Sundays in December. There is the Classic at £19.95 per person or the Prosecco at £24.95 or finally, the Champagne at £29.95 per person.
