So…….if you’ve been keeping up with my Instagram pics this week you will know that I have done a series of Happy To Me posts. I decided to set myself a challenge and see if for one week I could treat myself to something yummy and delicious every day ……… AND FOR FREE! Yes, that’s right you lovely lot, all of my Happy posts have one thing in common. Each frothy coffee, each amazing piece of cake, each tasty morsel, was absolutely and totally free, and here’s how I managed to bag those goodies in my Freebie Week Challenge!

Day 1 – John Lewis coffee and cake

I downloaded and signed up to the John Lewis app and rewards scheme. I haven’t bought anything from John Lewis, but as a welcome offer they uploaded a voucher for me to use for a regular hot drink and a piece of cake. I scanned the barcode at the till and enjoyed my free treat at The Place to Eat café in Eldon Square, Newcastle.

Day 2 – Krispy Kreme original glazed doughnut

I downloaded and signed up to the Friends of Krispy Kreme app and rewards scheme. Again, I never purchased anything, they gave me a welcome voucher to scan to obtain an original glazed doughnut, which I picked up from the Krispy Kreme stand in Eldon Square, Newcastle.

Day 3 – Greggs Latte

Okay so the same again peeps, I downloaded and signed up to the Greggs app and rewards scheme. Once again, no purchase necessary and the welcome voucher enabled me to get a regular latte. I don’t think they always run this promotion so it’s best to check, but I signed up for the app last month and the voucher was valid until end of March. I got this at Greggs, Northumberland Street, Newcastle.

Day 4 – Costa Latte

So as the name and insta photo implied I got a latte from Costa, but I actually received this through My Vodafone app. If you are a mobile or broadband customer and sign up to their VeryMe rewards scheme they will often send you vouchers to use in Costa – they are only available for one hour from the time you download the voucher so make sure you time it well. I’ve been a broadband customer for 5 weeks and this was actually my second Costa freebie through the VeryMe rewards. I have previously redeemed this at Costa in Northumberland Street, Newcastle and this latest one I used at Costa on Durham Road, Low Fell.

Day 5 –KFC popcorn chicken

I downloaded and signed up to the KFC app and rewards scheme. As usual there was no purchase necessary and the welcome voucher enabled me to get a small popcorn chicken. I got this at KFC, Northumberland Street, Newcastle. A bit of departure from the sweet stuff, I mean, I can’t eat cake and doughnuts every day can I? Or can I? J

Day 6 – Costa Salted Caramel Frostino

So back at Costa folks, but this time with the Costa app. This one was a freebie but not from a welcome offer, from points I collected previously. Each time I visit Costa I scan the code in my app and collect points. I noticed I had 460 points so used it for the wonderful Salted Caramel Frostino at Costa, on Durham Road, Low Fell.

Day 7 – Krispy Kreme doughnut

Back at Krispy Kreme again today! I received a new reward through the Friends of Krispy Kreme app as it’s my birthday month, one complimentary doughnut of my choice. I went for the Lotus Caramelised Biscoff, which I picked up from Krispy Kreme at the MetroCentre, Gateshead.

So I did it!! I completed my Freebie Week Challenge!

I enjoyed the research to see what and where I could get my free treats and I thoroughly enjoyed sampling them! What made it really great was that there was a variety of things to choose from and all close by, so it wasn’t really that difficult once I decided to attempt my Freebie Week Challenge. There are more out there too so it’s worth having a look to see which apps offer the things you like.

Obviously, it’s not hard to see that I prefer the coffee and cake options, but don’t forget the savoury options too.

Try it and let me know! Tag your freebie photos with #asweetgeordielifefreebie and let’s share the goodies.

A whole week of tasty freebies.

I’m full now.

Off for a sleep…………..
